Aileen Sorrentino, TA

Aileen Sorrentino first stepped into the world of Irish dance at just five years old, and from that moment, she knew it would shape her life. During her twelve-year dance career, she had honed her craft under the guidance of esteemed teachers Brigid Behan, Peter Smith, and the renowned Scoil Rince Móna Ní Rodaigh in Ireland.

Her own competitive journey took her to major Irish dance competitions where she experienced the thrill, discipline, and artistry of performing on some of the sport’s biggest stages. Aileen consistently placed in the top 25 of all Regional Competitions, Top 50 of all National Competitions, recalled at the All-Irelands and is a three-time world qualifier in Ceili's. She has also performed at Carnegie Hall with Frank Paterson, the Chieftains, and at the NJPAC Center to name a few.

Today, she channels that same passion into teaching dancers of all ages and abilities — from eager beginners to accomplished champions. For Aileen, Irish dance is more than a series of steps; it is a vibrant celebration of music, heritage, and community.

At the Slattery School of Irish Dance, Aileen is studying to become a certified TCRG under Elaine Slattery Moskwa to continue to create an uplifting and inclusive environment where students can thrive. Classes balance technical precision with encouragement, ensuring dancers not only master their skills but also develop confidence and a lasting connection to Irish culture.

In the fall of 1996, after the Schilling School closed, Elaine enrolled in the Broesler School of Irish Dance in Paramus, New Jersey.   Under the instruction of Kevin Broesler, she reached her highest potential.  She qualified and competed in Regional, National and World Championships each year until she retired from competition in 2005.  Elaine has medaled in Regional and National championships throughout her dancing career, with her highest placement of 6th in the Regional Oireachtas and 13th in the Nation.
